I grew up in nearby Livingston where I received an excellent education that well prepared me for college and for life. Growing up, these dedicated teachers demonstrated to me something that research has overwhelmingly confirmed: there is no greater predictor of success in the classroom than the quality of the teacher at the front. My mom was also a teacher, an expert in early-childhood education— she opened and ran many pre-schools in her career. Her belief in the power of play and the respect we must show the developing mind, has stayed with me and informs how we raise our two young children. Both my wife’s parents are retired public school teachers. All this is to say, I believe very strongly in the promise of public education and its compact with the community to give every child an equal opportunity to flourish.
I went on to graduate from Fordham University and earned my Masters in Public Policy from George Mason University. Professionally, I have worked in tech startups, and have led partnerships between Fortune 500 companies.
In New Providence, I have been active in the community since we moved here five years ago. I’m a proud member of the New Providence Lions Club, and sit on its Board of Directors. I’m also a member of the Borough’s zoning Board of Adjustment. A lifelong drummer, I’m the product of school music programs. New Providence is lucky to have such a first-class music department of its own, with no better example than the high school marching band’s performance under the Friday night lights.

I was raised in New York City, where I attended two private schools, K-12. Although my education, grades 6-12, continually had me asking the question, “why are we learning this?” I went on to eventually earn a Doctor of Education from Columbia University.
I have served students and youth as a camp counselor, assistant division leader, coach, teacher, health and safety director, project manager, senior administrator, Court Appointed Special Advocate, and most recently as a father and as a consultant. What I wish to convey to the community with my background is that I would serve on the Board as an individual who has worked in many of the different roles that comprise a school community.
In New Providence, I have served on the NP Alliance, which–among other community service and drug prevention efforts–coordinates Every 15 Minutes. I have also served as a driver with the New Providence EMS. I am a Life Member of the Central Park Medical Unit, having actively volunteered as a New York State certified Emergency Medical Technician for 15 years, with service at NYC Marathons and in the post-Hurrican Sandy crisis.
In addition to working as an education consultant exclusively to some of the nation’s foremost Independent Schools, I am a passionate indoor and outdoor rock climber, recently co-founding climbingdads.org, which supports communities of fathers in their vertical pursuits.
I am thrilled to be a member of the New Providence community because of its tremendous network of volunteerism, investment in academic excellence, and dedication to sustaining a welcoming and healthy environment.
